BE FIRST CHAMPIONSHIPS #33 – Registration Information

Sport Karate/Light Kick Continuous, Boxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and No GI Submission ONLY Wrestling Tournament!

We were the FIRST on Vancouver Island to bring you a tournament of this kind 14 years ago and are looking forward to hosting another successful event this year! Our tournaments bring athletes of all disciplines together under one roof providing a fun, safe environment to challenge yourself. Our mission is to promote camaraderie needed amoungst the gyms acoss BC to better each other and our students, which we've been happy to see many friendships and connections made over the years due to our events. We have had some of the TOP athletes in Canada compete at our events, and are proud to be a part in creating many more CHAMPIONS as well, with some competitors that started with the BE FIRST now continuing to compete with the best in the world. We expect good sportsmanship from our competitors so it can be a good experience for everyone involved with providing a great learning platform, win or lose it's important to know there's always something to work on.

When: March 30th, 2024 - 4:00PM – Starting with Kids/youth Divisions. BJJ/ No-Gi/ Boxing/ Light Kick Continous

Where: City Center Park- Eagle Ridge Community Center. 1089 Langford Parkway.

8yrs+ welcome.

Novice – up to 2 yrs experience

Advanced – 3yrs + / or have fought in an organized promotion before.

SINGLE Elimination Format – we are on time restraints with it being an afternoon/ evening rental that we have to ensure ends on time.

All divisions will be formed based on a combination of age, weight, and skill. We may have to merge divisions depending on the amount of registrations but will do our best to provide the best experience for everyone.

You can sign up for 2 divisions at a reduced additional cost. We will do our best to ensure your division times won't cross over but you'll be responsible for keeping track of your division start times once we go live on the day of event as they may change.

DIVISIONS AVAILABLE :

Brazilian JuiJitsu – 8yrs+ - Submission ONLY – If a submission doesn't occur we will go to a 1 minute overtime for the golden point (depending on time restrictions) The referee in charge may award to the winner with the most attacks- takedowns, submission attempts and/or dominate positioning.*GI UNIFORM required with Belt*

NO-GI Submission Wrestling – 8yrs+ - Submission ONLY – If a submission doesn't occur we will go to a 1 minute overtime (depending on time restrictions) The referee in charge may award the winner with the most attacks using takedowns, submission attempts and/or dominate positioning.

*Rashguard/tight fitting T-shirt + Shorts/tight fitting pants with no pockets, zippers or buttons required.

BOXING – 16yrs + ONLY – You are responsible for providing your own gear: 16OZ Boxing gloves, headgear and mouthguard required. NO Boxing BC members are allowed to compete. This is for recreational boxers only! You are awarded the win on technique and speed by the 3 judges provided. We request the use of 75% power, you will be disqualified by the referee in charge if using excessive force or knock your opponent down.

*Team shirt + shorts with no pockets, zippers or buttons required.

Sport Karate (Light Kick Continuous)– 8yrs + - ALL martial arts schools and disciplines are welcome, whether you do karate, kickboxing, Muay Thai, Kenpo, Taekwondo,etc.. we challenge you to test your skills against various styles. You are responsible for providing your own gear: ADULTS-16OZ Boxing gloves, KIDS/Youth-10OZ Boxing gloves, VINYL or Leather SHINPADS (NO CLOTH Shinpads are allowed) headgear and mouthguard are required. Chest protector is optional. You are awarded the win on technique and speed by the 3 judges provided. We request the use of 75% power, you will be disqualified by the referee in charge if using excessive force or knock your opponent down.

*Team shirt + shorts/pants with no pockets, zippers or buttons required. Gi uniforms are also welcome

Weigh Ins:

Are done day of event.

Kids/Youth @ 3:30-4:30PM.

Adults @ 4:30-5:30PM.

We need all competitors checked in at the venue by 5:30PM no matter what your division time is. You will be disqualified if you haven't contacted us prior.

SPECTATORS - $20 at the door. CASH ONLY!!

COACHING PASSES – We allow 2 coaches per team for FREE!! If you have a team of 8 competitors or more please contact us for an additional pass. ONLY One coach will be allowed mat side in the designated area. Other coaching passes cost $20 which can be purchased at the front desk but they must remain in the warm up area only.

If you are NEW to smoothcomp you will need to set up an account. Gym owners are also required to sign up so they can approve their students competing.

EARLY REGISTRATION – January 12-26th - $65 – Additional division $30

Normal Registration – Jan 27- March 8th - $80 – Additional division $30

LATE REGISTRATION – March 9-23rd - $95 – Additional division $45

All changes or cancellations must be done through your account while registration is open by logging into your account, select "My Account" then click "Edit" for this event. To cancel an athlete's registration click "Cancel”. Registration ends by MARCH 23rd so all changes need to be updated by then. After that date, If something comes up where you are unable to compete please contact us at your earliest convenience so we can remove you from the division as your registration could make or break it. crushercombat@hotmail.com - *There are NO REFUNDS available through us unless we are unable to provide a division for you.

A Detailed schedule will be available by March 28th with estimated times for each division through your smoothcomp account.

As always the Advanced BE FIRST Champions are guaranteed some awesome prizes donated by our much appreciated sponsors. Medals will also be awarded to the top 3 competitors.
